Methodology

For programmatic access to published measurements, see the public API documentation.

Calculated screen geometry and a manufacturer figure are different kinds of fact. A screen width uses the diagonal and an aspect ratio. A cabinet width is copied from the manufacturer’s page for one model. A number you type into a space check stays yours.

One inch is 25.4 millimetres. Published alternate units are conversions from the figure printed on the manufacturer’s page. Conflicting inch and millimetre pairs are not averaged, and an unresolved conflict is not used in a calculator.

A space result can say that the reported dimensions exceed the space, that the difference sits inside the stated uncertainty, that precision is unknown, or that a required fact is missing. It does not say the television is safe to mount, ventilate or transport.

Our explanations of screen technology are editorial guidance drawn from manufacturer sources, rather than measurements of individual TVs.
